...December 27, 1916, one of (torn away) pioneer women of Nebraska and Sarpy county passed away. Coming here with her husband in 1858 Mrs. Fackler went through all the hardships and trials incident to the earlier settler, yet with womanly courage she bore all and lived to see what Nebraska is today, and died at a ripe old age, beloved by all who new her.

Minerva Elizabeth Nickolson [sic] was born February 26, 1833, about fourteen miles east of Salem, Ind., being of revolutionary stock, a grand-daughter of Gen. Green of George Washington's time. At the age of seven years death claimed her mother when she went to live with her grandparents, until a step-mother came. In 1848, when fifteen years of age, she moved with her father to Iowa, and three years later, on August 24, 1851, was married to Jacob Fackler, and in 1858 they moved to Nebraska where she has since resided. She was the mother of eleven chirldren two dying in infancy; the other Mrs. Samantha Marsh died after several years married life leaving three children, Mrs. Asa Ball and Mrs. J. L. Hinkle of Springfield and Frank Marsh of Wyoming. Mrs. Fackler is survived by eight children, Mrs. Mary Ringo, St Francis, Kans.; James Fackler, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Alice Dill, South Bend, Neb.; J. B. Fackler of Hayne, Kans.; Mrs. Zerilda Burchett, St Francis, Kans.; Mrs. Sarah Heacock of near Gretna; George R Fackler, Blair,; and David Fackler, Wayside, Neb. There are thirty-five grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, besides two brothers, J. B. Nicholson and M. G. Nicholson of this place.

The funeral was held from the M. E. Church at 2 P.M. Friday, Rev. W. H. Underwood of Omaha conducting the services, assisted by Rev. Capsey. Burial was in Springfield Cemetery by the side of her husand who died about five years ago.
