Julia Ann Quigley was born on 5 April 1834 in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama. Mom (Virginia) says that she was a doctor as well as her husband.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 William Miles Quigley and she were married on 19 August 1851 in Nelsonville, Athens County, Ohio.2,10,4,11,12 She witnessed the marriage of Abraham Lincoln Blatchley and Deborah Ellen Quigley on 14 March 1893 in Steele City, Jefferson County, Nebraska.13,14,15,16,11,4 Julia Ann Quigley died on 30 December 1908 at age 74 at Home of Deborah Ellen Quigley Blatchley in Thornsburg, Hayes, Nebraska.2,17,18,4 She was buried on 30 December 1918 at Hayes Center Cemetery in Hayes Center, Hayes County, Nebraska.6,19,12

Baptist Church - On October 20, 1882, Robert Crinklan transferred a plot of ground to the Trustees of the First Baptist Church in Steele City, and that same year a church was erected.
In 1921, as many of the older members passed away and it became more difficult to maintain a pastor, the deed and assets of the church were transferred to the Nebraska Baptist State Convention who in turn sold the building to the Lincoln Lodge, Knights of Pythias 146, of Steele City. The Knights of Pythias still occupy and maintain the building.
The church is Ramnesque in character with a large round cathedral window on the front facade, reminiscent of Gothic influences.
