Dave Church and miss mamye Ellis, of Springfield, Ill., were united in marriage the 15th inst. The happy event occured at Steamboat Rock, where the bride was visiting at the home of Chas. Starr. The wedding was a complete surprise, none of Mr. Church's friends anticipating that he would become a benedict. Dave is a progressive and hustling young man who does things, and now that he has been joined by a loving helpmate there will be a more happy home than formerly down on the farm near Geneva.

Hampton Man Stricken While In St. Paul Last Saturday Morning
    WAS WAITING FOR LUNCH
    After Giving Order To Waiter
    He Was Suddenly Taken
    With Apoplexy

Walter A. Church, a well known Hampton resident, died suddenly at St. Paul last Saturday morning. He had gone to the twin cities last week to spend a few days at the Minnesota state fair, and was stopping at the Foley hotel. E. R. Franklin and F. C. Holmes, of Hampton, also happened to be auartered at the same place, and the three men happened to meet Friday evening as they returned to the hotel about midnight. The three decided to get a lunch before they retired and they went to the cafe nearby and placed their order. As the men were talking Mr. Church began to cough and in a moment the end had come. A physician who was immediately called stated that death was caused by apoplexy.
A telegram was received by his mother here early Saturday morning, and C. L. Raper was requested by members of the family to go to St. Paul and arrange for shipment of the body to Hampton, which he did, and arrived home over the Rock Island at 4:35 Sunday morning. The reports of his death, given above, were verified by Mr. Raper, upon his arrival in St. Paul. Funeral services were held at the home of his mother, Mrs. Harriott Church, Monday afternoon, and burial was made in the Hampton cemetery. Rev. Dewitt Clinton, of Iowa Falls, conducted the services. He is survived by his mother and two children, Mrs. A. L. Roberts and David C. Church.

Mr. Church was born in Erie county, Pennsylvania, March 23, 1853. His parents moved to this county when he was three years old and he grew up on the farm in Geneva township. After gorwing to young manhood he attended the Albion Seminary and following his studies at that institution read law here with W. F. Harriman, and afterwards took a law course at the State University in Iowa City; was admitted to the Franklin county bar in 1880, and during that year was joined in wedlock to Miss Sybil E. Norton at Racine, Wisconsin. Follwoing his marriage he practiced law for two years in Hampton and then engaged in farming and stock raising on the Church homestead in Geneva township, which work he followed until the death of his wife, who in November, 1894, was thrown from a buggy while returning home from a visit to a neighbor's and instantly killed. Following this fatal accident he moved from the farm to Hampton and since the death of his father, which occurred in the spring of 1909, has made his home with his mother.
