4. Abraham married someone named Prudence. He was charged twice with defaming and slandering someone's wife. Once in Pike county and once in Morgantown WV. He had a son named Abraham who married Sarah Sargent and they moved to Hancock county Ohio where he was a judge. He tried to start a city (I think kind of communal one) with his brother John but it didn't work out. He later moved to Missouri (near St. Louis) but the courthouse was burned and there is not much available there. - [S15236] Jack Laswell, Laswell, Jack A. Correspondence recorded as Extract #14627

The Caleb Asbury Huff who ended up in Springfield Illinois Iam GUESSING is maybe a brother to Susanna and Sarah. It was common toname a son after the father - and several of the Huffs moved to Illinois.Again, speculation. There is also an Elizabeth Huff who married DavidJuvinall (Juvenall). She was born in 1799 in PA (as were Caleb andSusanna Huff). They were in Vermillion County Illinois too- along withSarah and Susannah. They eventually went to Ogle County Illinois but some oftheir children were married in Vermillion, County ILL.She is very likely asister to Sarah and Elizabeth, or at least a cousin. - [S422] 1820 Ohio Census and Index

5. Sarah Huff (Susanna's sister) married Benjamin S Knight. His family is from Miami County Ohio. Benjamin died shortly after they were married. They had a daughter, Martha Irena Knight. Sarah later married Nelson Maddox and they had 6 children. One of the documents I sent is a court proceeding concerning some land that Martha inherited. It mentions Sarah and the second husband. They remained in Vermillion County, Illinois. - [S819] 1850 Wisconsin Federal Census and Index

1. Yes, I do have proof that Sarah Huff was married toNelson Maddox on Mar 5 1839. She was first married to Benmamin SmalleyKnight. She and Benjamin had a daughter, Martha Irena Knight who in 1850was living with her cousin, Elizabeth Bennett Cammack in Wisconsin. Martha married Joseph Stevenson on 23 Dec 1852 in Vermillion County,Illinois. This is a line I would like to pursue but I have not found anymore information on them, where they lived, died, or had children. It ison my "to do" list. I am hoping there will be downline who mayhave contributed genealogical information, or DNA. - [S11920] Illinois Marriages Index 1851 to 1900

Danville Township was organized in 1851, the township at that time including all of the then existing city of Dan- ville, north to Voorhees Street, or the Newell Township line, which was organized the first year, Vermilion County by a vote of the people having adopted the township or- ganization plan on November 5, 1850. J. A. D. Sconce was the first Danville Township super- visor, serving in that office three years. W. E. Russell was the first township clerk, holding the office two years. W. M. Payne was the first assessor and collector, serving in this office again in 1854, 1855 and 1856. There were only ninety-nine votes cast at the township election in 1852, but the number of voters casting ballots gradually increased to one thousand three hundred and HISTORY OF VERMILION COUNTY 195 seventy-eight in 1879. Nelson Maddox was the first jus- tice of peace and S. L. Payne the first highway commissioner. In 1865 Danville became entitled to an assistant supervisor and J. L. Tincher was elected to that position, holding the office until his death in 1871, when he was suc- ceeded by H. M. Kimball. - [S10130] Illinois State Census 1865
