Biography

John George Bossert was born on 11 March 1771 in Hamilton Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 He witnessed the birth of John George Vetter Pershing on 14 December 1815 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.4,5 John George Bossert and Margaretta wife of John George Bossard were married before 1793.2 He died in 1830 at age ~59 in Holmes County, Ohio.
John George Bossert was also known as George Bossert. He was also known as Johann Georg Passert. He was also known as John George Bossert. He was also known as Johann George Bossert. He was also known as Johann George Bossert. He was baptized on 12 April 1771 at Lutheran and Reformed Church in Hamilton Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.1,3 He witnessed the moved to Heinrich Bossert between 1788 and 1790 in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Pleasant Unity is an unicorporated village in Unity township. It was formerly called "Buzzards Town," taking its name from a family who were descended from John Buzzard, who owned the land upon which the town is built. The name is now written "Bossert".6 As of 1810, John George Bossert was also known as George Buzzard. He appeared on the census of in 1810 in the household of Christian Pershing, Senior, in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. George Buzzard is listed with a wife, one daughter and 3 sons. That would indicate that Either Catherine (1808) died before 1810 or Susanna (1809) did. At this point, I show Susanna married to Lewis Putt in Tuscarawas county, Ohio; so she probably was not the deceased daughter. With only 3 sons showing and other indications, I believe that George Vetter Bossart was the deceased son by 1810.7,8 John George Bossert was a grantee of on 9 April 1810 of in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. 245 acres that Abraham Fiscus purchased for $450 in 1805.9,10,8 He was a grantee of on 13 April 1810 of in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. 245 acres9 He was patentee on 30 April 1810 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.11 He sold to Christian Pershing, Junior, on on 11 January 1811 of in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. for $859 John George Bossert sold to on on 1 October 1811 of in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. signed in Dutch, for $7009 As of 14 December 1815, John George Bossert was also known as John Geo. Vetter Bossert.4 He was moved to in 1816 in Wayne County, Ohio.12 He sold to on on 28 March 1816 of in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. purchased by George John Bossert by patent dated 30 Apr 1810, Patent Book H, Volume 2, page 4169 Research Note:. It appears that George Buzzard and Margarethe sold all of their property, "Buzzards Hill" in 1816. Although one researcher indicates that George died in Westmoreland county, I can find no evidence of that.

If he sold all of his property and didn't purchase any more in Westmoreland county, he would needed to move in with someone else, such as a married child or in-law. Since none of his children, except Anna Marie, were married at that time it would seem unlikely that they would move in with a child. The 1820 census in Ohio does not show anyone of George and Margaretha's age living with Anna Marie and husband Christian Pershiing.
